Superman:  Warner Bros. is stupid for not having all of their DC movies overlap.  That is part of what makes the Marvel movies work so well.  Disney needs to wrestle the Spiderman and X-men rights away from the inept fingers of Sony & Fox -- they obviously have no idea what they're doing.

Captain America:  I think their instinct to consider John Krazinski was dead on, he isn't a house hold name and he would be interesting to see playing an action hero, which is a major stretch for him.  They need to find somebody who, at the beginning, you wouldn't believe they are fit for military duty.  For those reasons I don't expect Chris Evans will get the part.  They need to cast somebody who you wouldn't expect.

Assuming the information in this article is accurate, I think Garrett Hedlund will probably end up getting it because of his involvement in Tron Legacy.  Disney/Marvel basically owns his a$s.

Hanso - I realize that Nolan isn't directing but he will still have major control of the film in general. I'm not against him being on Superman, just skeptical. What I love about Superman is exactly the kind of stuff he removed from Batman and it worked very well......for Batman. Superman is a very different animal and I hope he knows this, that said if I were a betting man my money is on the movie kicking ass.

dracor, Yeah, after I posted and got to thinking about it a little more, I realized that the $300k had to be for just the opening picture (that's what I get for speed-reading the article on a work break).

It's a moot point anyway, as I seriously doubt we'll actually see the same actor as Captain America in 9 movies, even if 4-5 of them are cameos.  Of course, that would be nice (provided it is a great actor), but Spider-man didn't even get a 4th film before they decided on a reboot.

gauley, all the examples you mentioned were done by other studios or were very minor roles like Favreau as Hogan.

Hudson - I'm pretty sure Nolan isn't a retard and knows Superman ain't Batman :)  Anyway, guess we'll see what happens with this new Superman film.  All I know is I'm glad it won't be another take on Donner's version.

The studiio that did FF (FOX) is the same studio that did most of those examples I mentioned. AND Happy Hogan's is the only one of those roles that is minor... and so it too is a seperate studio than Marvel/Disney doing Cap.

All I'm sayin is Sombody playn another character previously obviously has no bearing on casting of future movies... all the existing evidence shows this.

Hmmmm Who's the biggest douchebag in the Marvel Universe...

BunyonSnipe 3/10/2010 5:52:12 PM

As for Chris Evans as Cap, at last I can see this happeneing, I want cap to be a bit pompous and stuck in the 1940s, but not the asshole he was in The Ultimates...

I think Wallyrus is right the Hedlund kid might have the inside track for the role but he''ll need some serious bulking up to do. Unless they thow another name into the mix it''ll be between Evans and Hedlund.

Cap- I really hope all this casting, or lack thereof, news is just smoke screen for something because it's too late to shelve the film now.  Again, maybe they should cast the other roles and come back to it...
