In the latest Captain America comic, the superhero is killed as a sniper shoots down the shield wielding hero while he leaves a courthouse.

And so end the long run of Captain America.

Created in 1941, some 210 million copies of Captain America comic books have been sold in 75 countries.

While death in comics is anything but final, and resurrections are as common as apples, for now, Captain America is dead.

Well... I was sort of him being dead, or in limbo battling against the Red Skull.

"Well, @#$%. They spoiled it, so let's spoil it too!"

First off, does anyone really expect us to buy that Cap is really dead? If this is some kind of staged thing, I might be able to get behind that but if he gets shot by a sniper and then gets resurrected by Dr. Strange or some similiar bs, I'm gonna be really pissed off.

that situation is becoming big in a fast way. I was buying my comics today and my local comic shop had news camera and the owner was getting interviewed about the signigicance of this situation. It's cool but, because of everything that's hapenned in comics with death, I mean come on, he's not really dead, he'll come back later or something, it could be a cover up, who knows. It's a good read though, Marvel is really following up good after the Civil War, it's interesting.

Captain America is dead? Sounds like a bad omen.

It WAS a good read. I'll give credit where credit is due. And like that, America dies. Dislike it, but very fitting.

"First off, does anyone really expect us to buy that Cap is really dead?"--scoundrel Captain America? Not really. But they're going to have to install a new guy.

Makes you wonder who Punisher is going to give the mask to.

yeah, dont write off the cap just yet, this is all a marketing ploy by MARVEL, kinda the same way DC did with superman, hell, killing captain america and unmasking spider-man are lame, at this point i belivie the sentry will get pissed at all this and spin the world backwards so the events of the civil war saga dont take place ps: CNN was the one who broke the news about the cap's death, therefore spoilling the surprised for most of us who still need to catch up with marvel's civil war series. and cnn is own by time warner, just like DC. mmmm, conspiracy theories abound

I look at this as another attempt by the left wing wackos of this country to do anything to destroy anything that may be pro American and make you feel bad about being an American. I'm surprised we don't learn that Captain America lied to the American public and is actually an international terrorist. What the hell?.....Do the French write these comic books or what?
