Marvel looks to be leveraging it's various businesses together for the upcoming release of Captain America: The First Avenger and giving us a look at what a multimedia push by the company may look like for subsequent movies as well. According to USA Today, the Super Bowl this weekend is set to launch more than just the first trailer for the movie. On Sunday, Marvel will be putting up on their CaptainAmerica.com site the first of eight digital issues of Captain America: First Vengeance, a new series that's being set in the cinematic universe of the Marvel Studios movies. The series is being written by Marvel noteworthy Fred Van Lente and will have a rotating list of artists for it. The first issue is being offered free on that site only on Sunday and will be released on the following Tuesday through the company's iPad comics app. As noted in the article, this is the first joint production between the comics and film divisions and could spawn a universe of its own if it's well received.

Fred Van Lente said that Captain America is "a guy who never gives up. That makes him a hero not just for World War II but for the tough times we're going through right now." while Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said "2011 is Cap's 70th anniversary. Characters don't stick around that long unless they remain relevant and vital to the modern era."

why doesnt marvel just try to put their comics out once a month like promised and stop trying to milk everyone for the rest of their money!

Wasn't Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas set in the movieverse too?

Also does anyone STILL read Ultimate books? I thought they were dead and buried, now...
