Carano in Fast & Furious 6

MMA star in talks

A couple months back Dwayne Johnson gave some insight into the next two Fast & Furious movies and revealed The Fast and the Furious 6 will go into production in May in the United Kingdom and Germany. As the start date draws nearer, he and the franchise's original stars, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, are gearing up for all new high-octane action setups. And THR reports Haywire star Gina Carano may come along for the ride, as she has entered into negotiations to play a member of Johnson's Diplomatic Security force.

The former MMA athlete dazzled critics earlier this year in Steven Soderbergh's jaw-dropping espionage thriller, wherein she toppled the gender expectations of spy movies with some incredibly fleet-footed and furious fight scenes. Carano's betrayed black ops soldier was all business as she sought revenge against those who'd sullied her name and tried to kill her, and we ate it up. Unfortunately, audiences didn't warm quite so quickly to Carano's hard-edged allure, but thankfully Hollywood is eager to get this burgeoning action star a chance to blossom.

Recently, she signed onto In the Blood, a thriller in the vein of Taken with Carano in the Liam Neeson role. It's a great fit for her, and will hopefully prove her abilities to carry a profitable movie.  But her role in The Fast and the Furious 6 could expose her to a much wider audience, and serve as a less challenging introduction than Haywire. In The Blood is scheduled to go into production once The Fast and the Furious 6 wraps, and while no release date for the former is yet set, I'd be willing to bet it'll come out after Fast 6 has paved the way.

The Fast and the Furious 6 is slated to hit theaters May 24, 2013.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Is this really the only way that Diesel and Walker can get acting jobs nowadays? The last one wasn't bad, but the endless sequels makes this series a parody of a movie that wasn't that good to begin with. The Rock is probably the only thing still keeping people coming to see this trash.

As long as the action stays solid and the story is at least OK I think they can keep pushing it

besides they need to close the loop since the last one was in between Tokyo Drift and one of the others

and to be honest I'm still not sure of the order of films. I thought it was 1-2-4-5-3 then maybe 1-2-5-4-3 then my mind exploded and I said fuc.k it and just enjoy this shit ;)

I think I need an FF marathon to get it straight since all the action just melds together in my memory and can't tell them apart

uuhh.... i have disagree Phetus. I think these movies are pretty damn entertaining with a fun cast. The Rock is just a huge added bonus.

I found the last one entertaining also and I don't even watch these movies. I've seen the first one a long time ago and only part of the second but that didn't really distract from it when I saw it for the first time this month on HBO. It was just "blowt stuff up" silly fun. If they stopped making them I could care less but the last one made fun popcorn movietime.

Carano is a perfect addition for the next. I agree with Robert. Haywire kind of left me unsure if she could really act or just kick ass in a sexy way. Throwing her into an ensemble cast of a successfull franchise can only help her career and let her prove herself.

1,2,4,5 and then 3 the order is supposed to go but who knows lol good movies entertaining and enjoyable. Keep em coming.

I enjoyed that last one immensely and I am looking forward to the next.

I enjoyed Fast Five immensely and I didnt even care for the others.

But just an observation really (not a complaint), when watching it Vin Diesel looked smaller than he did in the first one or Pitch Black. You would think knowing that he had to be on screen with The Rock he would've pumped up more. Especially for their fight scene. (which was awesome)  Its like he intentionally let the Rock upstage him. Wonder if he will pump up more for the next one.

Either way, after Fast Five, Ill check out the next one

as long as they keep in the direction of the last movie where it was a heist flick w/ cars rather than a car flick w/ a heist then I'm all good w/ the series continuing

Me and the wife just got around to watching this one and we enjoyed it.  She hadn't seen 2 thru this one and she felt it was a fun ride. Adding the Rock was great and as long as the stunts, driving and action scenes are full of life, I will check out the next one.

How does this story not include a picture of Gina?
