The semi-finals are here and we get two matches that move to get us closer to a winner within the shop tournament.

What They Say:
It's already the semi-finals of the Shop Tournament and standing up against Aichi is none other than Kamui! As the fight begins Aichi and Kamui don't hold back one bit, going at each other with full force! With that invigorating tension, they battle on!

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
After a couple of hard fought matches for Aichi, he's finally getting closer to facing Kai, though Kai himself has a bit of a challenge now as he has to face Misaki. What Aichi has to get through is dealing with a match against Kamui, who continues to be a brash little pup as he worms his way into Aichi's sisters heart and plays a dual role with Aichi himself. It's amusing how he tries to get on his good side in certain ways, including calling him brother, and then being all in his face about beating him in the game itself. Aichi for his part is just focused on facing off against Kai again, but he continues to learn and utilize what he's learned in the matches, which has let him get this far. In a local shop tournament.

On the plus side, with someone like Kamui, we get a player who is enthusiastic and into everything but nowhere near as over the top as the Ninja Master that we had seen in the previous matches. There's a real sense of fun and enjoyment that you can see in the match that the two play, as well as some amusingly goofy moments with the combinations and attacks, such as when Aichi throws a dog type at a giant robot type and gets to knock it down easily. Things do get off to a good start between them here as it doesn't feel like the usual slow build towards a match but rather an all out battle to get to the final match with no holds barred. The match does cover the entire episode though and outside of a couple of little nods here and there to other characters, such as cute bit with Emi and having the non-costumed Ninja Master providing a little commentary, it's really just a series of back and forth pieces between the two players and all their cards.

In Summary:
Cardfight!! Vanguard does start to offer up the match between Kai and Misaki towards the end as Kamui and Aichi play their hard and serious game. You end up wanting more of Kai's game to see how Misaki will really handle him, especially since there is simply the luck of the draw involved as well with the decks. She's had some good style to things for awhile and she definitely feels like a strong player, enough so that you want to see Kai having to fight it out a bit for him to win the match. But as we've seen before, Kai definitely plays hard and we get just a snippet of a very difficult match. All so we can get the big match we know we're going to get in the season finale in the next episode. There's just so much inevitability to the series, especially once it did the tournament segment, that it's simply coasting along.
