Walt Disney Pictures and the animated experts over at Pixar have unleashed new trailers to both the domestic and international audiences for Cars 2, their next release planned for June 2011. Watch both versions down below and sound off with your thoughts.
A sequel to their 2006 blockbuster which pulled in $461.9 million worldwide, this next installment will feature the voices of Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy and Michael Caine. Pixar's John Lasseter and Brad Lewis shared the directing duties from a script they wrote.
Plot Concept: Lightning McQueen (Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in "Cars 2" when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
For some reason, none of my kids like the CARS movie. They have just about every single disney/pixar related movie, but this one they just don't seem to care about and won't watch it.
It dosen't have the same feel as the frist one. I know because I have a 2 year old who has watched it so much I have it memorized LOL. The frist one was a story of finding your self and frienship, this looks like simple greed for the viewers dollar and a CRAP knock off of an auston powers movie only animated. Sorry but I think this is going to be Pixars frist flop
As much as I love Pixar this is one for a rental- Its pretty much a James Bond type story for kids. Pixar has been on a sequel crunch lately but they havent made the one sequel that everyone wants to see and that is The Incredibles.
I agree. This is the weakest of the Pixar movies and the only one of my collection my kids do not ask for, probably because they are girls. And that's where the problem lies with this movie. It's too much of a "toy car" commercial for young boys.
Agree with Calibur454. The further adventures of the Incredibles would be so much cooler. One of the best, if not the best, superhero flicks the past 10 years.
If there were other Pixar sequels to do, I would love to see Monsters Inc 2 before a Cars 2. Maybe an all grown up Boo like they did with Andy in TS 3.
Yeah, I would have thought that an Incredibles 2 movie would have happened before a Cars 2. With Disney's ownership of Marvel it seemed like a no-brainer to me.
Well the one thing you don't realize is that this has been a cash cow for Disney and Pixar from the word go. A sequel was set as soon as the first weekend was done. It was a matter of when. And ElBaz you said it. You have girls. This film was made to hit up the boys and it worked like a charm.
I loved Incredibles and it was far far more superior than it's competition at the time Fantastic 4. But it didn't hold the Mighty Disney's prerequisite for longer term sales and merchandise. Hence 1 video game/sequel was enough to doom what would have made an awesome franchise.
Don't know why everyone is freaking out about this not being Incredibles 2? It's obviously in the works there. They just haven't announced it. It's one of their best films. Disney ad Pixar aren't going to forget about it. We all just have to keep our pants on and wait. It will come.
