CARS Run Even in Rain

By: Karl Schneider

Even mass amounts of rain couldn't stop the premiere of the Disney/Pixar movie CARS. Over 30,000 people showed up on Friday night at the event staged at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.

The event had just about everything: A 12 lap auto race, giant screening of the movie on four giant screens outdoors, and a peformance by country star Brad Paisley.

Some celebrity arrivals were delayed by the rain, but the event went off almost with out a hitch despite the large amounts of rain.

CARS races into theaters the second weekend of June.

LOL!!! its ironic that the Dreamworks ad for Over the Hedge is located directly above the article for Pixney/Disnar's Cars.
still nothings gonna stop this one... Pixar's had long enough to fine tune the engine.

I was at this premiere and all I could think about was how I wished I was sitting in a theater with soft, dry seats. I was in some alternate universe where those around me got very excited about a staged race and that "git done!" redneck guy (who does a voice in the movie). The movie was pretty good though as you might expect. 30,000 people at a screening was a new experience for me. Too bad it wasn't in Iceland though, then Wessmith could jump in with another Iceland comment. "One time in Iceland!..." Sorry, couldn't resist! ;)

funny teabagging2000! Where would you rate the movie if judged against past Pixar films? By the way, the first movie I saw in Iceland was Kevin Costner's Robin Hood dubbed in Icelandic...just because I know you really, really wanted to know! ;-)

Well I can say w/o a doubt that imo it is the best looking Pixar movie to date by far. As far as story, I'd put it near the top. Then again, I might be the only person who thought the Incredibles was just OK. I love super hero flicks and hate racing but I like this movie better.
And my friends have to hear me talk about my travels relentlessly. I want to go to Iceland one day!

Having made the world premiere, I can safely relate that Pixar has done it again! To me, "Cars" seems more "adult" than other Pixar films. The story is great; the automotive characters are engaging; both benefit from outstanding animation. One major theme exists; it works itself out on many different levels.
As for the event itself, hats off to Disney / Pixar and ISC for a job well done!

Thanks teabagging2000 - the kids (and me too!) can't wait for this one to come out. I can't stand racing (for me watching cars go in big ovals is akin to watching paint dry), but I love Pixar movies.
