Casey Kasem - 1932–2014
Casey Kasem, the voice of “America’s Top 40”, has passed. The news was released via Kasem’s daughter, Kerri, on Facebook. After weeks of being hospitalized, the radio host died at the age of 82.
Kasem’s children released the following statement: "Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken ... The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad."
Kasem had been suffering Lewy body disease, which is form of dementia after Alzheimer’s.
With Kasem’s passing we have also lost: Shaggy, Teletran 1, Bluestreak, Cliffjumper, Robin the Boy Wonder, Mark (Battle of the Planets), and the Superfriends’ computer to name only a few. His voice over work will continue to entertain generations of children. Mania’s thoughts and prayers go out to Kasem’s family and friends.
