Finally, something concrete and confirmed has come across the wires regarding the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA adaptation. Until now, the only three items we know for sure is George Miller being pegged as the director, Bale & Routh not in this adaptation and Warner Bros wanting this live action film out in theaters summer of 2009. The rest of the stories printed on the production in the past month have yet to be "officially confirmed" by Warner Bros.

Still, thanks to the industry used Showfax site, we now also have a confirmation that three different casting directors/firms in three cities have been selected to fill in the roles of the DC superheroes. They are Susan Shopmaker(New York), Michelle Allen(Vancouver) & RDC Casting(Toronto). Casting is to begin immediately so we can expect some announcements shortly as production is set to begin early 2008.

It's time to slip back into another related item which is purely a rumor at this stage.

Movie Web has posted a story about the "Wonder Twins"(Jayna & Zan) possibly showing up in the film as a bit of humor for director George Miller. The characters appearances would be very brief, cameo-like in appearance & be used as short source of humor. Apparently, Miller and Warner Bros already have the actors in mind to play the parts. They've asked Maggie & Jake Gyllenhaal to play the parts. Whether they do it is another story. The roles aren't vital so if they refuse or anything gets in the way, Miller will probably take the Twins out of the script.

Thanks to Mania scooper, Daforce, for passing that rumor along..

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA hits theaters summer 2009.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the DC Universe outside of Batman. That character is going to make or break this movie as far as whether or not I see it. As far as the ensemble cast is concerned, I think the JLA movie is going to face a problem that X-Men didn't have to face in any large degree in that most members of the JLA are iconic heroes in their own right. Getting the screen time of the characters just right, especially the big two (Bats and Supes) is going to be tricky. Most of the X-Men are known primarily within the context of that supergroup maybe with the exception of Wolverine, and his screen time was more then fair.

First of all, we've learned that much of this movie will be shot in Canada and New York...which I gather from the locations of the casting directors...and 2nd, that alone gives a good shot to Nathan Fillion getting the Batman role. Another great actor, who could play a villain or a hero in this movie is Tom Cruise's cousin, William R. Mapother--you've seen his work on Lost as a villain...well, the guy is just a brilliant actor, and very scary. He's a real scene stealer!!! But when it comes to the Wonder Twins, that doesn't even work as a joke...as they are universally hated by the fans!!!

The Wonder Twins would make me not want to see this movie. I think George Miller is taking this a little more seriously than that to have those characters in even as a joke. Since I live in NYC I will cross my fingers and hope for another background/extras gig for JLA(I did extra work on I am legend). Metalwater- the way this is going you may get your wish with Nathan Fillion. How come you don't also picture him as a certain Kansas raised farm boy turned Superman? I kind of think he would fit that better.

talking about the WONDER TWINS, REALLY is NOT the way to go with the marketing of this movie. The present fame of the Justice League is due to the fact that the animated TV series was so true to the comics. they never resorted to cheap childish tricks that the Superfriends cartoons did. & this was what made that TV series phenomenal. The case of JL is really like how the Batman franchise was. Sure, the Wonder Twins may be just a bit of less-than-a-minute joke. But letting that bit of news just ruins the whole project. People will start to think that this is going back to the STUPID Superfriends days, which WILL DEFINITELY KILL this franchise before it even starts

Actually the animated series did have the Wonder Twins in it as well as Apache Chief and several other second string characters from The SuperFriends. I don't recall the episodes names, however that Black Opps group, under Amanda Waller (I believe that was her name) who believed that Superheroes were just as dangerous as the criminals began a genetic engineering/cloning experiment to create super powered beings under their control to destroy or capture the Justice League. This group included the Wonder Twins In one fight against Aquaman Jayna turned into a T-Rex and Zan turned into a tidal wave to slam into Aquaman.

You're referring to the Justice League Unlimited Season 1 episode "Ultimatum". The Ultimen also appear in cloned form in the Season 1 climax two parter "Panic in the Sky" and "Divided We Fall", and BTW Waller's group was actually Cadmus although in a somewhat different form than in the comics.

Just to certify my geekdom about JL Animated, the "classic" Wonder Twins actually made a cameo in the 1st season of JL Animated as a set of statues destroyed in a fight between the League and the Injustice Gang during 'Injustice for All'. The statues are shown really briefly..don't blink. I doubt any other Wonder Twins cameo would be as creative as that. But I just wanted to say that even JL Animated has given a shout out to Zan and Jayna.

I am confused. Is this going to be animi or live action? I thought it was going to be like a polar express type of deal?

Riddle me this.......If the Jet is invisible...how come we can still see Wonder Woman? How can she fly the damn thing without being able to see the controls? Too many questions.......Screw the wonder twins......I want THIS issue resolved damnit, and Adrian Grenier had better be Aquaman........;)

In the end credits of JLU, specificilally the character voices, has anyone noticed that Nathan Fillion voiced Vigilante?
