According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in the upcoming sequel, Indiana Jones 4.

Blanchett will join Harrison Ford in the cast for the film which will be produced by Lucasfilm and directed by Steven Spielberg.

The screenplay was written by David Koepp, but it is unclear what the plot revolves around or what role Blanchett will play.

Filming is set to begin this June for a May 22, 2008 theatrical release.

KJ's Take:  I'm having a hard time getting excited for this film.  Someone give me a reason why after all this time, I should care about Grandpa Indy ...

Perhaps because its about Indiana Jones, KJ.

Then again, you were a young sprout when the last one came out. :-)

So why bother explaining why Indiana Jones could kick your ass for talking smack. Hah.

The one thing that bothers me about this story is we don't need a new female lead for Indy 4.

They should have Karen Allen reprise the role if this film is going to be a wrap up of the Indy franchise. Not some new female lead.

Antwho, Blanchet is amazing this is good news, but kinda agree with KJ, having trouble getting psyched to see Indy, especially after Firewall, Harrison looked 80 in that flick.

I look at Raiders of the Lost Ark and think "if they could keep it along these veins, the 4th film should be fine." But then I felt that way about Star Wars before the prequels came out. Now I just cringe and hope for the best.

Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith rocked.

Sweet sweet irony how Jar Jar put Palpatine in power by emergency powers.

Those who throw hateraid on the prequels can virtually KMA.

God, isn't internet fanboy arguements great? :-)

Reasons for Wanting to See Indiana Jones 4:
(1) Harrison Ford
(2) Stephen Spielberg
(3) George Lucas
(4) Sean Connery
(5) One day, if you’re lucky enough to get to Harrison Ford’s age now, you can show it to your grand kids and tell them proudly that this is how they used to make movies when you were young.

Cate Blanchett is awesome and can`t see her addition to Indy 4 as anything else but good news. I can see her and Indy playing off eachother really well.
