As the caption says, the screenshot to the left is from the Jericho episode "Why We Fight". Well, the Jericho fans fought to have the show return this year with an agressive peanut campaign but it was to no fruition given the latest news. CBS has decided to cancel their genre show once again and not renew it for a third season.

Here's what they had to say...

"The March 25th episode of Jericho will be the series finale," said Tassler.

She added: "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high quality second season. We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We're proud of everyone's efforts."

Eff you CBS. You killed this show by putting it in a hopeless timeslot and refusing to market it at all. It's such a shame that it's going away. I really liked this show.

I've heard an insane rumbling (could be my stomach) about Jericho being picked up by another network. Since Sci-Fi is showing it in syndication, perhaps they will pick it up and give it new life. They've done it before, although with mixed results.

Never watched this or had the inking to. I guess it's ok with me. From my perspective it needed bigger stars or something more catchy for me to think "maybe I should watch this."

well that just sucks.

this season has been fantastic. Although I doubt it will happen I guess we can hope that it will be picked up by the SciFi channel or Fx or something

First off, its a tv show. Why the hell would you need "bigger stars" to make you want to watch it?
Second, I love how full of utter shite CBS execs are. They talk about how hard people worked on the show to build a great season and how hard they worked and yet, they put it in a timeslot that everyone knows would cause it to fail. The only reason it was brought back in the first place was fanbase pressure. CBS didn`t give a shit about this show. Sad, because it is a really good show. Now they can fill the timeslot with crappy reality tv like the amazing race or big brother. Yay!

I enjoyed Jericho and I'm sorry it was cancelled again, but I think CBS deserves big cudos for listening to fans, bringing the show back and GIVING THE SHOW AN ENDING.

Whether or not they gave it a bad timeslot or the stars weren't big enough - it happens some shows we like get cancelled, but I wish networks always made a back up series finale so that they could at least wrap it up if necessary. Jericho will have an ending, which is more than what we could say about so many shows that we liked, but were cancelled early!

I wasn't a fan of Jericho after having watched its first 4 or 5 episodes, and I don't generally watch anything on CBS, but I really have to say they dropped the ball on advertising the return of Jericho. During the NFL playoffs in January I had thought CBS would have used a substantial amount of airtime to plug the show's return, but I don't remember any ads during the games or during commercial breaks. I don't necessarily think the network set the show up to fail, but one could make that argument. I do think this shows that Fox isn't exactly the most evil of networks in canceling shows abruptly though.

Yeah, I guess Pamela Reed, Gerald McRaney and Skeet Ulrich haven't been around long enough to be considered star power.

Do me a favor next time. Don't tell the fiercly loyal fans of a show that's just been canceled it's all right with you because there weren't enough big names. It's very annoying and makes me want to swear at you.

I'll tell you what else is annoying. I just looked at CBS's primetime lineup. There are 10 crime dramas, three of them CSI's, five are sitcoms, and three are reality television, one of which (Big Brother) airs three times a week. That leaves five shows, Ghost Whisperer, Cane, The Unit, The Power of 10 and Welcome to the Captain, that don't fit into one of three prettily wrapped packages.

I guess if you're an aspiring television writer with a fresh new idea you better visit ABC and NBC first, because if your show doesn't fall into one of those three categories you chances of making it to a second season are next to nill.

To be fair, I haven't looked at the primetime schedules for ABC, NBC or Fox, and I might find they have their own little niches as well. Still, Fox is already infamous for canceling shows in the first season.

Oh, and don't forget that the people who are catching Jericho second run on DVR or on the Web are being completely discounted. I realize people will skip the advertising when watching an episode second run, so how about networks get their head out of their asses and figure out a way to solve these issues before another great show like Jericho gets canceled.

End tangent, nothing more to see here.

Not really trying to take a shot at anybody, but the show needing bigger stars? Pretty dumb comment.

Heros is a pretty popular genre show, who were the big known stars in it that everybody knew when it started? Ali Larter probably equalled Skeet Ulrich in noteriety. Lost, pretty popular show, known names in it, Matt Fox and Dominic Monahan. Neither were what I would call huge stars at the time the show started. How about the Buffy show, it was pretty popular and yet there were no real stars when it started.

Anyway it sucks that Jericho got cancelled. The show was admittedly slow starting last season, but it got better. Did I think it was the best show on TV? No, but I thought it was probably better than most other crap. Maybe if CBS had slapped CSI: or Survivor: in the title it would have had a chance.

It sucks but we saw this coming after the first two weeks with the ratings. I agree CBS didn't give it much of a chance but like it was pointed out. At least we'll get an ending to the show this week.
