There's nothing like a movie announcement which blatantly tells readers that their new project will take ideas from previous movies. Sure, most plot concepts sound very similar in nature but the vague concept below just comes out and says where they're taking their story from. HR is reporting that CBS Films has pre-emptively bought Richard D'Ovidio's spec screenplay titled The Seminar. Now, it's time to pass along that vague, yet honest, plot concept.

Plot Concept:
The script combines elements of Disturbia and The Game to tell the story of an 18-year-old whose parents engage a mysterious consulting firm to mess with his reality.

Telling you a movie is like Disturbia or The Game is just an easy shorthand to give people an idea of what they are going for. I'm sure it helps when presenting the idea to studios and investors. It's like saying this movie is "Jaws in outer space" for Alien. (Actually 20th Century Fox said the movie was The Omen in outer space at the time since Jaws was a Universal pic and The Omen was theirs.)

After saying all that I'm still pretty vague as to what this film is about from that plot concept.

The Game is amazing, though. David Fincher is incredible. I caught the end of Se7en on cable last night. That movie is THE BOMB! I love me some Fincher. (Yes, I know that sounds gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

as long as Shia LaDouche isn't in this I might see it.

What's with the Shia bashing? It's like he's the new Leo Dicaprio. People want to bash him because it's popular to do.

I feel compelled to respond to the Shia bashing, westend. 3 words - tarzan la douche. I fail to see the comparison to Dicaprio. he started out with very solid acting in roles like gilbert grape and basketball diaries. Ladouche did big budget genre fodder for us genre geeks in transformers and indy 4. And i dont like his typecast genre saturation. Until he plays an (oscar fodder) intellectually disabled/hardcore drug addict and works hard for real respect, he deserves the bashing. On behalf of all aussie genre fanboys, la bouf deserves his ridicule.
