Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is really getting the hype going for their second season. Already we have had casting additions of Lucy Lawless (Agent Isabelle Hartley), Reed Diamond (Daniel Whitehall), Nick Blood (Lance Hunter), Henry Simmons (Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie), and Kyle MacLachlan (Skye's father), and Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird (seen HERE)). Marvel has added another character to the series, Brian Patrick Wade will join the series as the Absorbing Man. Details below.

Press Release: Carl "Crusher" Creel, known to Marvel fans as the Absorbing Man in the comics, will bring his unique power set to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." with the season premiere Tuesday, September 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC!
With the news we've also got your EXCLUSIVE first look at Brian Patrick Wade ("Generation Kill," "Teen Wolf") as Creel directly below! With his ability to absorb the properties of anything he touches, Creel will put Coulson and his team through their paces when their second season kicks off...but you'll have to wait until then to see how their battle turns out!
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns September 23rd at ABC.

Who is the Absorbing Man? According Marvel.com: Crusher Creel's life was little more than that of any common criminal. Although he did spend some time as a boxer, he usually resorted to petty crime. It was on one such extortion racket that he was convicted of aggravated assault and remanded to prison. Loki, the Asgardian god of mischief, knew Creel would be the perfect unwitting agent to battle Thor, so he slipped an enchanted potion into Creel's drinking water in the prison commissary. Filled with power, Creel broke out of prison and soon found himself in conflict with Thor. He found he could absorb the properties of Thor's hammer as well as Thor himself, and Creel, calling himself the Absorbing Man, managed to force Thor to flee. In fact, Thor was told that his love, Jane Foster, had been kidnapped by Loki, and he left to rescue her. A braggart and lout to the end, Creel flaunted his "success" until Thor returned after making sure Jane Foster was safe. A violent battle ensued, but Thor managed to use his hammer's magic to alter the elements Creel had transformed into. Suddenly forced into the qualities of helium, the Absorbing Man drifted apart” (read his full bio HERE).

I'm not sure who is in charge of casting over at Marvel, But they seem to be spot on with evrything.  SHIELD looks like its gonna be a great second season.!

Wow great news.  Hulk level foe also.  Hope they keep his story right.  But there is room for expanding his story, since he is usually just a thug in the comics.

This will shut all those whiners up who complained about the lack of Marvel characters

Eldogg42 8/22/2014 5:52:55 AM

So far, all the new additional cast members are actually Marvel characters from comics, with the exception of Skye's Father.  This just further proves what I've been saying.  M:AofS had to focus on Coulson and the main cast last season, to build the show around them, not the gimmicky Marvel one shot of the week.  Now that they are fully established, in fact I heard that they are gonna add these characters to the marvel 616 comics, They can throw in actual Marvel characters to boost the existing stories.  Plus, they were handcuffed becuase of Winter Soldier.  Very looking forward to this season!!

I still haven't finished last season. Guess I better get cracking with only about a month before the premier

ElBaz13...the whiners wouldn't have had anything to whine about if they had done this in the first place.

I'm not buying that they had to focus on the main cast first before this could take place...they could have had familiar Marvel characters in the main cast from the get go.

Besides the whining fanboys you referenced in your comment I think a little competition from Arrow, The Flash and Gotham (all using comic book characters)  helped Disney make this decision.

I'm expecting MAoS, no longer hamstrung by the family friendly 8 PM ET time slot, will be edgier and better this season.

There's another factor, it's a less competitive time slot. It will be going against yet another spin off of NCIS. Which from the ads, looks like crap.

 I like it

So Bret Dalton's name is still appearing in the cast list for season two I think.  I guess we're not done with Agent Ward's storyline either.  This is another good piece of casting.  With the existence of the Kree firmly establsihed by GotG, we're gonna see a lot more Kree stuff this year I think, thanks to Coulson and Skye's blood transfusion.

Only watched 2 episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D, I thought it sucked ass!! Maybe I will give it another shot and get cought up even though many of my friends still tell me I'm not missing much. Hope the 2nd season does get better from what I've seen and what I've been hearing about from the 1st season. .
