Talking with the New Haven Register about them recently finishing shooting there, producer Frank Marshall has gone on public record that there will be no CGI effects in INDIANA JONES IV. He points out that Spielberg is keeping it much like the classic Indiana Jones adventures.

Marshall and Spielberg wanted to shoot the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie in the same style as the first three.

"Steven is very aware of the process and we're not cheating with CG (computer graphics) at all," Marshall said. "It keeps the B movie feel."

Indiana Jones IV (working title) hits theaters everywhere on May 22, 2008.

I'm getting tired of the ultra CG movies like Star Wars III, where everything you see is fake, but I'm not sure I'm thrilled about taking a step backward either. Still I'm sure Steven knows what he's doing.

That is very cool news...It looks as if there going after good story line over big special effects...The news of this movie just keeps getting better and better...

Excellent news!!! All the previous Indiana Jones adventures featured a minimal amount of special effects, so this is in keeping with the previous styles. How refreshing that an action adventure film can be done with no CGI these days. My interest in this film is now picking up steam.

I agree, this is a great idea, but one I think few people could pull off. Fortunately, I think Spielberg can, and I've always admired his devotion to core filmmaking techniques and mediums, ie, minimal (or no) CGI and ALWAYS shooting on film instead of video. I just hope it's a good movie. Seeing a big, gray-haired Harrison Ford riding behind a Fonzie-esque LaBouf (did I spell that right?) looked kind of silly and I wonder what they'll do now that Connery has turned down the project and yet, as far as I know, their script as Indy's father in it.

It doesn't really matter much to me. The movie will be good. If it's made the old fashioned way, or even with CG effects. But I've always been a huge fan of special effects in movies. Like the six Star Wars movies, all fifteen Star Trek movies, and all the others. And in case someone wants to correct me, there were "ten" Star Trek movies, not fifteen. That part was a joke.

I'm not wholly against them using CGI for Indy. I'm glad they're not going in thinking, "Let's use CGI to create a sequence where..." But, some of the effects from the original could've wroked better as CGI. (for example, the plane crashing (and subsequent explosion) in the side of the mountain in Temple of Doom looked bad. CGIing effects like that I'm in favor of).

Regardless, low reliance is good.

And THAT's why Live Free or Die Hard makes Transformers look stupid in comparison...good old fashioned storytelling.

Hmmm, Die Hard 4 had a bunch of CGI shots, the plane for one and of course everything Bruce Willis did in the movie, heck even Bruce Willis himself was CGI :)

I'm worried about Ford now that no CGI will be used. Like I said before I don't feel comfortable seeing 50 year olds getting beat up on screen.

Ah, Spielberg can't do no wrong in my eyes so I'll be happy with whatever he comes up with for Indy 4.

Ok, this is the FIRST piece of news on Indy IV that has peaked my interest.

Cast is pretty good, got no problem with the Indy character (he's kinda cool), and now non-CGI effects. I don't mind CGI, but think many movies use too many or shouldn't have any at all.

Now I'm mildly interested in this film, if only to see how it'll look.

Most of the stunts in Die hard were true stunts and not CG. But that car flying through the air and landing on top of two cars was obviously fake and I thought it looked fake and just rediculous. (The jet also CG was the other dumb scene in the movie) Overall though I agree that Die Hard was better than Transformers. I never would have guessed that a week ago.
