CHAMBER OF SECRETS DVD/video makes big bucks

According to the trade magazine Variety (and via Video Business magazine), on the first day of the home video release of HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, 6 million copies of the film were sold in retail stores. That's $108 million dollars in sales -- and just for that one day alone.

The first POTTER film, HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE, was released in May of last year and sold almost 10 million DVD/video units in its first week of release. The third movie is filming right now and is scheduled for a summer 2004 release while the fifth book, HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, hits the street June 21.
