On Sunday, July 10th Warner Bros. Pictures held the premiere of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, which was a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The carpet was a milk chocolate color and sprayed to smell like chocolate. Fans lined the street across Hollywood Boulevard and when Johnny arrived they went nuts...chanted Johnny, Johnny over and over again. Crossing the street the security had to stop traffic Johnny signed autographs for many fans. They held signs that said "we love you Johnny."
Before the premiere started the press were treated to Wonka Bars, cookies, strawberries dipped in chocolate and other sweets which were catered by Crumble Catering and Mark's Restaurant.
Seen on the carpet were the stars of the movie Willy Wonka himself Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore (Charlie Bucket), David Kelly (Grandpa Joe), Deep Roy (Oompa Loompa), Annasophia Robb (Violet Beauregarde), Julie Winter (Veruca Salt), Jordon Fry (Mike Teavee), John August (screenwriter), Richard D. Zanuck and Brad Grey (Producers), Danny Elfman (Music) and director Tim Burton.
A big surprise of the night was a very pregnant Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline showing up along with Britney's sister Jamie Lynn. They were the last to arrive. Other guests included Frankie Muniz, Emma Roberts, Skye McCole Bartusiak, Martin Landau, Seth Green, Fred Durst, Larry King, Christine Lahti, Melanie Griffith, Lisa Rinna and her husband Harry Hamlin, Jared Padalecki, and John Stamos. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
is based on the book by Roald Dahl and Tim Burton brings to life the story about Willy Wonka, a eccentric chocolatier and Charlie Bucket who is a good-hearted boy from a poor family, who live in the shadow of Wonka's factory. If you remember WILLY WONKA
which starred Gene Wilder in the role of Willy this version is much darker, but is a lot of fun. Johnny is brilliant as Willy and watching I felt that there is no other actor in the world that could of done this role...it was made for Johnny Depp.CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
opens nationwide on Friday, July 15th. Check out www.chocolatefactorymovie.com/ AOL: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The film is rated PG for "quirky situations, action and mild language."
