A lousy idea from a lousy network. I don't think we watch one ABC series. All these reboots are a wast of time & money.

It looks like "Hawaii Five-O" isn't the only aging TV property being revived for the modern era. Variety reports that ABC is close to giving a pilot order to a modern version of the classic 1970s TV actioner "Charlie’s Angels." Josh Friedman, who recently adapted the "Terminator" franchise for his Fox series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," is onboard to write and exec produce the new "Angels."
Also involved are original "Charlie’s Angels" producer Leonard Goldberg, who launched the series with Aaron Spelling in 1976, as well as Drew Barrymore, who starred in and produced the 2000 film version and its sequel. Sony Pictures TV is the studio.
Insiders said that ABC Entertainment Group topper Steve McPherson is particularly high on this project.
Networks of late have found that it’s frequently a challenge to take on iconic franchises — and several recent reboots, such as "Knight Rider," "Melrose Place" and "The Bionic Woman" have fallen short. But ABC is riding high this fall with its adaptation of another such property, "V." That show bowed to boffo numbers, although it took a hit in week two.

"ABC Entertainment Group topper Steve McPherson is particularly high" on SOMETHING. This won't even last as long as T:TSCC did.
Charlie's Angels wasn't even a good show back in the 70s! The movies were stupid, too.
<sigh> I hate Hollywood producers.
ABC's been doing well with their original stuff (I don't watch most, but I do see the ratings). Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Castle (the one I actually watch). With a fair amount of success, why not put the money into something else original?
I don't know, I just can't seem to bring myself to care about Charlie's Angels. The original series was before my time and holds no interest for me. The first movie was ok, the second was meh. I think the ship has sailed, but maybe I'm wrong.
Dazzler are you Drunk! That comment of yours was absolutely incoherent.
.
I stand corrected. Forgot about Castle. Which I sometimes watch. I would watch it more but I don't want to get too attatched to it. Good show Fillion = cancellation
I told you ugys didn't I. every 70's and 80's show will be remade eventually. It ought to be interest who will be the cast for Different strokes or punkyk brewster don't you think?
Another series I won't bother with, ala BionicWoman, Knight Rider, V, and quite a few others I can't think of right now cause I don't watch them
The problem with Bionic Woman was there was absolutely no connection to the previous series. Not even a new Oscar or Rudy. It was also more complex in plot than it needed to be.
Knight Rider suffered from the too complex a story as well. Also, that show had too much cast. I think that show needed more connection to the original show as well instead of just inventing a connection with KITT's creator.
Charlie's Angels would be good if it bridged the gap between the TV show and the movies. Why did Charlie switch from police academy students to random women with skills? Also, more camp; less comedy.
JFDavis, I think Knight Rider did OK with the connections to the original series w/ the 2-hour pilot/movie. The original KITT was shown, and the Hoff was in it at the end, as Michael Knight, father of Mike Traceur (who, BTW, I can't think of without thinking of Chasing Amy - "You're a f'kin' Traceur!!!"). Where this all went in the series, who knows. They did know they were overdoing it with the cast, though, that's why they scaled it way back toward the end, but I think it was too little too late.
Flint, I THINK you're OK with Castle. The part you were missing in your equation was FOX. Firefly and Drive (Driven?) were both on FOX, and the new one is ABC. ABC is also putting some effort into marketing it, with things like the "Nikki Heat" book, written by Richard Castle (and I STILL haven't found out who the ghost writer is!) It's also been picked up for the full season, and, since Mania doesn't like to post my scoops, I'll just share here that Michael Aussiello is reporting that Alyssa Milano will be guesting as a an old flame of Castle's. Getting good guest stars is a good sign.
The way ratings are these days I bet even the first series would have been cancelled. They need a better way to track ratings. V is pretty much doing a Knight rider for starting off, and now that they are working it over again to try and make it not like watching Obama's reign it probably won't last either.
