Proving they're still pals, George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh have agreed to produce Don Cheadle's first film as director. Cheadle is adapting Elmore Leonard's
TISHOMINGO BLUES as a movie, based on a script by John Richards (
NURSE BETTY).
Clooney and Soderbergh will work on the film through their producing company, Section Eight Films. It's not the first Leonard adaptation for the trio: back in 1998 you may recall that Soderbergh directed Clooney and Cheadle in
OUT OF SIGHT. They also reunited in the remake of
OCEAN'S ELEVEN.
Cheadle would also play a role in the film which is about a high diver working for a Mississippi casino who witnesses a mob murder from 80 feet in the air. Things get complicated when a con artist-turned-drug runner, a corrupt sheriff, an honest policeman and a reenactment of a famous Civil War battle intrude upon the precedings. Casting is underway.
