Check On In

Welcome to the Countdown, where the weeks keep coming, but the future never arrives. This week I had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver trying to get a few interviews for the site... But that can be a bit difficult at times, if you do not tell them in advance. Did I come away empty handed? Perhaps... But before I start cutting myself down anymore, lets get to the hit list.
Sid Meier's Pirates! (PSP) – Here is a port of the Sid Meier's Pirate's games for the PSP, just because the PSP needs another port of great games on other systems.
Legend of Heroes III: Song of the Ocean (PSP) - From the creators of the Y's series, they bring yet another role-playing action filled adventure to your hands. As Forte, a young musician, you venture off behind a legendary composer. If that does not impress you, perhaps being able to interact with 100 illustrated characters will. The question is if this will be the first great RPG for the system, or will we need to wait for Disgaea?
Europa Universalis III (PC) - The third in the series game should become more accessible for the newcomers, while offering up a strategy war game for everyone else. The previous one was decent, so hopefully they can push this game to the next level. Of course the game deals with war, and hopefully you will be there to answer the horn of war.
Poppit Show (PC) - A balloon bursting game that deals with television show fun. Overall it is a simple, yet addicting, puzzle adventure. If you are bored of MSN games, this may be a game for you.
Hexic Deluxe (PC) - Another chance to play the Hexic game, but in a “completer” version... If that is possible. It has a few methods of playing which offer different scoring options, and if you have not played the game before, I think you have earned your chance to do so now.
Fossil League Dino Tournament (DS) - When a young boy is sent back in time, all the way to the Jurassic era, you can expect a bucket load of adventure with danger around every corner. A little different though will be that the dinosaurs are a little like Pokemon, so you can capture, collect, and battle with each of them. I will need to play the game before I pass judgement, but the formula is tried and true.
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (DS) - Mystery corners the market in this DS game about Hotel Dusk. Find out just who Kyle Hyde is, and what events transpired in the Room 215. Since it has been a while since there was a good mystery game on the DS, I shall award this game the nod for Game of the Week.
Inu Yasha Secret of the Divine Jewel (DS) - A DS television / movie game based on an anime. As much as I like keeping an open mind... In the end though, I just hope that the fans that buy it enjoy it.
Alas, there were not as many top-notch games that I was hoping for, considering we had three last week. The blow out of one of those games though was not as great as it was expected. There seemed to be plenty of pre-orders for the game, but in the end they were not able to sell all of the reserves. At least you can still pick it up, the expansion to World of Warcraft, though if you want the collector’s edition, you will need to pay a pretty price on eBay. Wrapping up though, this is Captain Gordon signing off.
