Due to a schedule conflict with the upcoming apocalyptic thriller The Road, young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee had to drop out of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The Australian site here reports that Perth resident Troye Mellet will instead play the part of young Logan in the origin tale. If true, he would be appearing in the film which also stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins. Director Gavin Hood is leading the origin tale, based on a screenplay by David Benioff. Production is currently under way at Fox Studios and various locations in Australia.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will hit theaters May 1, 2009.

Cast Mclovin now while you still can

Well, whoever are the original kid's handlers are they made a good decision keeping him on 'The Road' rather than this. I mean this still might be good but I think the movie to 'The Road' will be better. I just read this book yesterday in one sitting while at work. Nolan had nothing else for us to do so we just sat around the lot alot and stared at sh!t. I stared at the book.

technically Troye Mellet wont be appearing along side Hugh Jackman... since young Logan is a flashback i dont think he's doing any scenes togehter with Hugh.

I was thinking the same thing mckracken, nor will he with most of the cast for that matter.

Semantics, guys. I'll change the wording since you're technically right but come on...

It's entirely possible that adult Logan comes face to face with child Logan in a dream or a vision or something. C'mon people, you're genre fans, use some imagination.

Come on - think about it - this kid is probably the happiest kid in the world right now - he gets to play Logan (as a kid, but he shouldn't care - he's still playing Logan). And do you really think that the cast members won't be spending any time with him at all? Off the set or on the set doesn't matter - they'll know how much it means to the kid, pop into his trailer on one of the days he's there and give him some "pointers" and then congratulate him after he's done. These guys must know what it would mean to the kid, and honestly, what's an afternoon when it can make such an impact on the kid.
WISEGUY562 3/3/2008 6:47:25 AM
Probably not that big a deal for us the fans, since I'm assuming this to be a fairly small part. The kid however must be beside himself. Has he done any work before?

Jarrod, I wasn't ripping on the way you worded it. The thought just popped in my head. Don't worry about it. We all knew what you meant. I wasn't complaining. As for the kid he has to be on cloud nine. You knwo he'll get to hang out with all those stars. That alone would be awesome, but to be in a movie is so cool, and then to be wolvie. WOW.
