Chinese Ghost Story, A

The Review!
With the original Chinese Ghost Story in mind you're in for a surprise here.

It's more PG-style fun with some (not many) references to Disney. In my opinion they have taken more elements out of Ghibli movies than from American animations. On the Disney side there are songs in it and the female songs are pretty good (compared to the Disney songs). But the stylistic part is more anime than Disney. Much more. The animation is high class and most of the CGI is great. Especially the Backgrounds. The Story is pretty much the same as in the Live action movies, without the really bad and ugly guys and there is more mythological and religious content. It's fast, charming and funny, not a 100% anime but very enjoyable.
The Video looked sharp and clear. I have seen no failures.

The Audio is spectacular. Except for the English stereo track. Try the Mandarin or Cantonese Track and your Dolby Digital Decoder should deliver an avalanche of massive effects. Not very directional on the rear side, but at least a very powerful Dolby Surround and that's far beyond 95% of the anime discs available.

The Menues. Nothing special here.

The Package is the 5.1 sound, three languages and the widescreen presentation. Not very impressive.
