Another New Mania!

You probably noticed a few changes this morning, well we have launched a new Mania 18 months later after we launched the first one. There will be bugs and things that don't work but we are fixing them one by one. Nothing like hot fixes on the fly and instant gratification!!!!  I believe after a few weeks this version of Mania with all it's features and new tweaks will be a much improved version for the long term.

60 days later

Hopefully everyone is settling in on Mania and agreeing that Cinescape needed a major overhaul and that Mania has all the great features of the past along with much more. I will continue to post up cheats for video games as it seems that I am the only gamer out there, but I cannot tell you how cool I think it is to see what I believe to be the greatest collection of genre movie and tv trailers posted up anywhere on the web. I also like reading others reviews and hope we can get the next Peter Jackson to start posting up their own original fiction for the rest of you Maniacs to see.

Here is to a great 2007 on this site, look for new features this month and so on.....

30 days later

So it has been about 30 days since we launched the new Mania site that used to be "Cinescape".

Hopefully everyone has noticed the increased content we have been churning out on a daily basis and the new columnists we have been adding every week. We are actively looking for a columnist to head up our TOYS section as well as take on duties of a feature writer for interviews in genre films and tv. So if anyone has any interest in either of these positions definitely get in touch with me or Karl.

There has also been a lot of great content added in by users. The video section has to be my favorite section, being able to go watch all those horror trailers in once place is pretty cool. I also like seeing the images you guys post up on the site, as well as reading some of your blogs on your thoughts about genre entertainment.

In the next few weeks you will see even more features added to the site, such as Maniac Search functionality so you can seek out fellow Maniacs with similar likes, a user/Mania Calendar of genre events happening around the world, Clubs/Groups functionality, the ability to send content to your phones and also the ability for users to create top ten lists. Stay tuned as there is more to come, and if anyone has any ideas of new features you want added, just let us know as well.   

We are listening.......

Just wanted to let you guys know that we are listening to all the comments. We have already made a bunch of changes based on user comments and the site has only been up for 1 week! We are making improvements and tweaks every day and with all your guys help we will make this a great place to be if you love sci-fi, fantasy, and horror entertainment. If you guys have comments and want to give advice on changes, improvements or new features to add, just email me at chip@mania.com directly and if they make sense, we will do it.  That is my Post Election day promise....  

New name, new look, new features.....

Appreciate all the comments from everyone, both good and bad. The old Cinescape site was in desperate need of a makeover and was limited in what it could do, as we did not touch the design or backend of that site for 5 long years. This new site has been in the works for 2 years and will certainly take getting used to with the complete overhaul.  I can assure everyone that we will constantly tweak and improve things based on your comments, so please be patient and try out all the features before freaking out. As for the name change, the Mania name is much more relevant to the entire space of genre entertainment, while the the Cinescape name was originally formed to focus primarily on movies so we felt it was limiting. Stay tuned for more things in the next few weeks as we continually improve and add new features to what we believe will become even more so the choice online for all things sci-fi, fantasy, and horror entertainment. 

Business as usual....

Again launching a genre site on Halloween proves fruitless. For a few hours this morning, Mania was down so sorry about that folks. Reminds me of the day we launched Fandom(another genre site that maybe you saw) seven years ago to the day, and that site would not go live like it was suppossed to either. From now on I am only launching sites on holidays like Labor Day or something benign like that.     

Mania ready to take over the world...

Real excited about the new site Mania, this has been in the works for about 2 years and finally is coming to fruition. We are going to be redirecting www.cinescape.com to Mania on Tuesday Halloween, so the Cinescape brand will be retired online for the forseeable future. Thanks to everyone testing out the site before the big widescale launch, look forward to spending every waking minute on Mania.
