Cho as Sulu, Pegg as Scotty in STAR TREK

The actor has taken on flesh eating zombies at the Winchester in Shaun of the Dead. He fought toe-to-toe against the N.W.A in the "nicest town of England" in Hot Fuzz...Now, Simon Pegg will be in charge of "Giving it all he's got." for Captain Kirk in the next adaptation of STAR TREK, says Variety. The trade is reporting the genre actor known from Edgar Wright's two recent films will be slipping on the uniform as engineering expert Scotty in the forthcoming trek from director JJ Abrams.

Meanwhile, John Cho (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) has been cast as Sulu, says the Hollywood Reporter. The actor will be portraying the famed helmsman of the Enterprise.

Both Cho and Simon Pegg be joining fellow cast members Eric Bana (Villain Nero), Leonard Nimoy (Old Spock), Zachary Quinto (Young Spock), Anton Yelchin( Young Chekov) and Zoe Saldana (Young Uhura). Chris Pine has been offered the role of Captain Kirk but it has not yet been decided that he will play the part due to two choices, Star Trek or White Jazz.

STAR TREK hits theaters everywhere Christmas Day 2008.

i dont know about this. love the guy and all his movies, but if they are trying to cast a 28 year old as kirk, isnt Simon Pegg a bit to old for this cast. Scotty may have been older then kirk in the show and movies, but not that much older.

I love Simon Pegg. He'll be a great Scotty. He isn't a one dimensional comedy actor, as even his "comedy" movies have shown. He played a great Villain in Doctor Who series #9. SWEET

I think he'll be good, just hope he isn't there for comedy relief. Cho seems like a weird choice though, I'll keep thinking of him trying to get high like in Harold and Kumar. Damn, now that I think of it, I'll think of Simon Pegg's character in Shaun now too. I hope this isn't distracting.

Love Simon Pegg's work but think this is a bad idea. What little faith I have in this project keeps dwindling.

Pegg as scotty im all for it.....but Cho as Sulu...definitely not.....i actually think JJ abrams should have went with Daniel Dae Kim who plays Jin from Lost....he would have made a way Sulu

Since they started casting this movie, I have seen only one bad casting choice after the other...except for the actress cast as Uhura. Matt Damon needs to be cast as Kirk before it is too late...and he takes another movie.

I am quickly tiring of this movie...and at this point, thanks to the increasingly bad casting, I am starting not to care anymore!!!

Bring back Serenity and Firefly already!!!

Hmmmmm.... metalwater doesn't like something, shocker...
and yes please bring back Firefly, so metalwater can complain how the new series isn't as good as the old... sorry, just foreshadowing....
Anywho, Pegg will be great.
