What They Say
t may take many years before we'll ever reach the level of Persocom (personal computer) technology found in the "Chobits" anime, but at least there won't be any wait in having access to the retro-chic inventive music of this amazingly popular series, especially with the release of the "Chobits Character Song Collection."

Fans who couldn't get enough "Chobits" music will be treated to more Persocom bliss with this new CD, featuring six breezy character theme instrumentals and seven exuberant vocal songs that define the "Chobits" characters. This 13-track CD includes the bouncy duet version of "Love of Babble," composed by "Pizzicato Five" mastermind K-taro Takanami and sung by the original voice actors of Hideki and Chi.

The Review!
3 out of 5
Music found in Chobits.

This CD comes with a 14-page insert. From page one to 14 there are both English and Japanese lyrics for every vocal song.

The vocals are done by the voice actors themselves, lending a very innocent and childlike quality to the tracks. The vocals are just as bouncy in their sound as they are innocent, but all around they are fun to listen to. The instrumentals in this one are done by K-taro Takanami, the same K-taro that is a current member of the group Pizzicato Five. The instrumentals are very much a true representation of the characters that they were written for. Being a bit upbeat for those characters that tend to be upbeat, and slow and more melancholy for the characters that are more of a melancholy nature. All in all, the vocals are pleasing and the instrumentals are as interesting as one would expect from K-taro.

I'd have to say good fun, but not my cup of tea.
