Christopher Reeve Talks Superman for Both TV and Film

As Comics2Filmreported earlier, Christopher Reeve will be making a guest appearance on anepisode of Smallville, playing a scientist who gives Clarkimportant information about his past, and insight into his future. TheWB recently held a press conference in Brooklyn to promote the episode,where Reeve and Tom Welling appeared together for the first time. Comicon'sPulse was at the conference, where Reeve talked about how he felt about therole, and about Superman in general.

When inevitablyasked to compare their two Supermen, Reeve said, "Shhhh, he doesn't knowhe's Superman yet!"

Reeve alsotalked about how refreshing it was to get a chance to play the role. "It'sa great break from lobbying and politics," he said.

When asked ifthe role could be recurring, Reeve joked, "Let's how see this goes!"

Reeve evencommented on Warner Brothers upcoming Superman film, sayingproducer Jon Peters had called him up a few months before.

"He told methat his original idea was to do a film of Superman Vs Batman, tobe directed by Wolfgang Petersen. They were pretty far into it, and then Jon sawthe documentary that my son made about me and how five years after the injury Istarted to move." Peters was so moved that he began to rethink the idea."Why should [they] have two superheroes fighting? The movie that WarnerBrothers is making now will be a much more uplifting and spiritual story. "

Reeves did notname someone he thought should be the next man of steel, but did express atleast one preference.

"Thecharacter is more important than the actor who plays him because of themythology. I'm sure that they'll take their time and find the right man. But itshould be an unknown."
