That comes as a big surprise but one that I welcome. I know this series isn't dark enough and the Christian religious allegory turns some people off but not me.

Im very excited about this news. i really hope to one day have the entire saga on film. Keep pushing through.

I assume they are going to lower the production value a bit in recognition of the decline of box office sales, but im sure they can still pull off an amazing film

I've loved all three of the other movies, as have my kids. I'm glad that they will be continuing the series. I hope that they can still use the same actors. Bring on more Narnia!

But can someone explain to me why making $400 million on a $155 million budget is bad?  That's double the money.  Was that box office only, or did that include DVD/Blu-ray sales?

Cap: I was wondering the same thing.

Should those numbers be reversed?

I thought the movies went steadily downhill, to be honest.  I REALLY enjoyed the first one, thought the second was okay, and didn't really care for the third...but maybe a fresh set of eyes and a fresh direction will make a difference.

Wait, why are we surprised.  It made hundreds of millions and we are surprised.  Explain!

Wiseguy 10/2/2013 1:43:17 PM

Because of diminishing returns. The first made over 700mill. Most investors try to get out on the way down not once or after you hit rock bottom.

Luckily for the second time it appears a second or third party has confidence in these films. The first 2 were done by Disney, the 3rd by Fox after Disney lost faith and now this group. I hope it pays off for them

Me too

@Tevii, I would love to have all 7 on my shelf someday.

New blood and new direction, but a really great story. I really enjoy the Silver Chair.

They are good watch and forget once movies for me.  Keep the budget simple people.
