Just a few days after Hasbro producer Brian Goldner revealed that a script has been turned in for Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe 2, Heat Vision has confirmed that director Jon Chu has been set at the helm. These past few weeks, Chu (Step Up 2 the Streets, Step Up 3D) has been one of the top contenders to grab the director's chair against fellow director F. Gary Gray, who was also in the running. Chu will direct the production, based on a screenplay by Zombieland writing team Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
With a director now on board the follow-up to Stephen Sommer's 2009 comic film, one of the questions is which stars will be returning to reprise their roles. While Channing Tatum is likely coming back as Duke, the trade casts doubts as to whether Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Sienna Millar will return to play Cobra Commander and Baroness.
