Chu for G.I. Joe 3

Back as the Director

By Robert T. Trate     June 13, 2013

It looks as if the gamble of restarting the G.I. Joe movie franchise paid off. Well that and delaying the film for another year for Tatum reshoots. Paramount and MGM are now cutting a deal with Jon M. Chu to helm the third installment of the G.I. Joe franchise. Chu’s sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, arrived last March and grossed $365 million globally. So despite Chu only being known for directing Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never he restarted a seemingly dead franchise. It’s a good gamble to give him a second shot at another Joe film.

No release date or casting information has been set for the third G.I. Joe film.

Retaliation wasn't as good as I hoped, but after the abortion that was the first movie, I'll chalk it up to a couple good baby steps and hope that the next one continues to improve.

That, or I can really hope that my son is too old to care when part 3 is released and I can skip it entirely.  I'm perfectly content with my DVDs of the 80s cartoons and the awesome G.I. Joe "Resolute."

I'm not saying Retaliation was Shakespeare, but it is what it was, a good popcorn flick.  But more than that, it literally repaired my childhood after the abomination that was... I forget what it's called.  There was so much I appreciated about this movie.  I appreciated the characters ACTUALLY looking like their characters.  I appreciate them using ACTUAL GI Joe storylines.  It was a GI Joe movie.  A real one.  And I'm okay with that.  Just keep it up.

The first was way better than the second.  SPOILER ALERT:  The reason why I say that is because in the first they didn't kill off every fricking Joe except a handful.  That is some seriously stupid writing right there.  I was pissed from the get go.  Hated that movie.  I actually thought the first was a lot better in many ways other than that.  Now I loved the characters in the second and plot was so so, but just ruined it for me when everyone died.

Wait, Chu also directed that badass Step Up 3D film....yeah that's right :)

The first was a better movie hands down. Even the action was better. Won't be spending money on the third. Say what you will about Sommers, but the man knows how to shoot an action scene.

Yo Joe!   I am good for another one.  No lips on Snake eyes?  No problem.  Snake eyes should just have a solo movie.  Sure I want to see what I want in these movies but they are better than Bayformers, and no shita lablah.  I am hoping for Serpentor for next one.  I do hope they become international again for being Joes, at first I thought it was a bad idea but it grew on me.

Retaliation > Rise of Cobra.

Even the man himself. Larry Hama, said so.

The second was closer to the comic books, but the first was a better movie.

They killed off most of the G.I. Joe which makes no sense,,,,??? Who do we have left? I mean if they were to miraculously resurrect the Joe's I would be down with it but I think they are enough Joe unimportant back up soldiers to kill of there was no need to kill front characters. The first was more entertaining. To have a joe without Duke, Scarlette, Lady J, Flint, Baroness, etc... its like when they create an alternate Voltron.
