Eagle eyed reader Nagato noticed in the forums that Crunchyroll has added two new stubs to its site that aren't fully available yet for series that are kicking off in January 2010 as part of the Winter 2010 new anime season. Debuting on January 4th in Japan is Chu-Bra while on January 7th the series Durarara!! kicks off. This doesn't mean they'll be streaming via Crunchyroll the same day, but it is a good sign that we'll be seeing them soon.
Chu-Bra is a planned 13 episode series based on the manga by Yumi Nakata which ran in the seinen magazin Comic High and has had three graphic novel volumes released so far. The anime series is being directed by Yukina Hiiro by production studio Gansis.
Durarara!! is a planned 12 episode series that's based on the light novels written by Ryohgo Nrita (creator of the Baccano! and Vamp! light novels) with artwork by Suzuhito Yasuda, of which there are six novels so far as well as a companion manga series that kicked off in April of 2009 in Monthly GFantasy. The anime is being directed by Takahiro Omori for the production studio Brain's Base. Omori is most known in the West for his role in directing the controversial title Koi Kaze. Brain's Base has worked on several titles that are well received in the West such as Kamichu!, hich was their debut, as well as Baccano and the second season of Spice and Wolf.
