Chuck Norris Vs. Bin Laden?

CBS is dealing with a quandary. What do they do with a Chuck Norris starring TV movie called THE PRESIDENT'S MAN: GROUND ZERO, in which the action actor takes on a character based on Osama Bin Laden? Norris has no doubts. He wants it aired.

According to Variety columnist Michael Fleming, the TV film was shot months ago and features Norris as a troubleshooter working for the government who tackles the problem of a Osama Bin Laden-like terrorist. In the film's story, the terrorist demands the release of the men who originally bombed the World Trade Center, threatening that he will set off a nuclear device smuggled into the U.S.

Like something out of his MISSING IN ACTION films, Norris' character steps up. Norris explains, saying, "I basically go to Afghanistan and kidnap Bin Laden, whom we call Rasheed, and bring him to trial."

In spite of its sensational overall aspects, Norris is pushing for the film to be released. The action star explains, "The film has a positive message. What's good about this movie is it doesn't blame all Arabs for the actions of a few, which is exactly what we're hearing on TV. I understand that CBS has no idea what to do, but I am trying to get [CBS head honcho Leslie Moonves] to release it right away. It was originally planned for January... But I'm concerned that if it waits until then or later, people will think that we just made it and that we were trying to capitalize on the tragedy."

Norris adds, "I think that if they release Arnold's movie, if they release my movie, audiences would say, yeah, let's get back at them. These movies are all about retribution. During World War II, people wanted to see John Wayne, winning the war."

As yet, CBS has made no solid decision on if or when the TV film will air.
