His latest foray into Sci-Fi was a disaster (Andromeda Stain, anyone?). He was the producer not the director on that made-for-tv abomination, however if that portends his future involvement with Sci-Fi, forget it!

Metal – You called it in your original post. I really enjoyed Speed as a kid – most of all the Mach 5. I’m terribly disappointed that they (the Wah-cheesenuts) decided to upgrade (i.e. jack with) the car to a Mach 6. Your thesis as to why this happened makes absolute sense. As for the rest of what I’ve seen of this movie, it is laden with high caloric cheese and not much else in the way of true adventure. I most probably will watch this drivel of a movie, but afterwards will likely wash my mind out with either a marathon viewing of the original anime series or better yet, a marathon day of Top Gear!

This show is a lot of fun to watch as "popcorn" t.v. in the vein of Magnum and Macgyver. And with genre actors Bruce Campbell and Tricia Helfer (cylon to spy-handler... hmmmmmmm), what's not to like?!
