Despite major plot changes, Tom Clancy is much happier with the adaptation of his techno-thriller THE SUM OF ALL FEARS than he has been with the last few outings of the JACK RYAN series starring Harrison Ford.

As Clancy puts it, "I've seen it. It's not bad. [It's] a lot better than the last two disasters. I'd prefer them to follow my stories more closely. But probably every author thinks that way."

The book has Arab terrorists exploding a nuclear bomb at the Super Bowl. In the film version, the baddies have been changed to Neo-Nazis.
