You probably had the debate whether or not Agent Coulson was truly dead this past summer. Would that really be all for the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent that stood toe to toe against a Norse God? At one point we even heard a rumor that Agent Coulson would resurface again as the Vision in the next Avengers movie. That rumor was probably just a lot of fanboy speculation.
Last weekend at the New York Comic Con, Joss Whedon announced (via a recorded message) that Agent Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) would in deed make an appearance in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series.
Whedon had this to say:
"We all love Clark Gregg, there's no doubt about that," Joss announced in a taped message played for fans at New York Comic-Con on Saturday. "From before we made 'The Avengers,' we discussed whether there was a way for him to be a part of the Marvel Universe, perhaps a part of a TV show even after his death."
Marvel uber producer Kevin Feige then backed up Whedon will this remark:
"There was never going to be a 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' show without Agent Phil Coulson!"
So would this be an appearance? A flashback? Perhaps his memory being transported into a robotic body (I really liked that one, can’t you tell)?
Whedon that said:
"He's headlining the S.H.I.E.L.D. show and always was”.
The only question that remains now is Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Will he make an appearance? With production of the pilot already under way, we’ll know soon enough.
Great! No body...then they probably aren't even dead. Even if they are shot in the head, cough, Captain America.
