First photo of Tom Welling in a costume-like get up for 'Smallville'. PLUS: 'G.I.Joe' box office. Pixar sizing up 'Ant-Man'? Fox talks 'Jonah Hex'. More! Laboring over a charcoal grill with a cold one in hand, it's your Comics2Film 9.9.7!
G.I. JOE Box Office
'G.I.Joe' dropped three spots at the box office this week, landing at #8, according to Mania's box office report. In its fifth week of release, the comic/toy/toon film was pushed down by two new openers 'All About Steve' and 'Gamer', and lost ground to the appealing chick flick 'Julie & Julia' (also in its fifth week).
'Joe' took in over $5 million bringing its domestic take up to nearly $140 million.
The movie has done over $271 million worldwide, bumping it up to the #13 film of 2009, trailing far behind 'Fast and Furious'.
Pixar Sizing up ANT-MAN?
In their coverage of the Disney/Marvel deal, Entertainment Weekly dropped a cryptic bit of news which, if accurate, could be cause for excitement:
"Pixar is said to already be eyeballing an 'Ant-Man' movie."
As regular readers know, Marvel has been developing 'Ant-Man' for many years and, at one point, it was seen as part of the run-up to the 'Avengers' mega-film.
Director Edgar Wright ('Shaun of the Dead', 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World') has been developing the feature for Marvel and has written a script. As recently as last July he said he aims to return to work on the screenplay after 'Scott Pilgrim' is done.
EW offers no details beyond the above statement, so it's unclear how strong the interest is on Pixar's part, or whether or not Marvel is abandoning Wright's take in order to bounce to project to their new hit-making partners at Disney.
Stay tuned...

Clark Suits Up for SMALLVILLE
In the season 9 opener of 'Smallville', Clark gets a superhero suit. It's the moment fans have been waiting for, right? Well, not quite.
KryptonSite has posted over a dozen images from "Savior", the new season's premiere episode, including your first look at Clark in a costume-ish get up with the S shield and a cloak of sorts. OK, he looks more like the Vampire Lestat than Superman, but maybe this is the start of a progression.
The episode debuts Friday, September 25th. Here's how The CW describes it:
Clark (Tom Welling) tells Jor-El he¹s ready to start his training, but Jor-El sends him back to Metropolis to cut ties with Lois before he can begin. Chloe (Allison Mack) is shocked when Lois (Erica Durance) suddenly reappears after having been missing for weeks, but Lois has no recollection of vanishing into thin air with the Legion ring.
While investigating a monorail crash, Lois meets John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green), a new reporter at The Daily Planet, with a negative attitude toward the Red-Blue Blur. Chloe begs Clark to use the Legion ring to go back in time to save Jimmy, but he refuses, driving a wedge into their friendship. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) continues down a dark road, and Zod (Callum Blue) arrives at the Luthor mansion.
The episode was written by Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders and was directed by Kevin Fair.
New LUCKY LUKE Teaser Trailer

Megan Fox Promises "Super-Violent" JONAH HEX
