Just a week after Geoffrey Rush joined the Green Lantern to voice Tomar-Re, HR is reporting Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming summer release has added another voice to the cast. After weeks on the rumor vine, Michael Clarke Duncan has entered negotiations to tackle the role of Kilowog, a drill sergeant trainer of new recruits for the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic police force that patrols the universe.

Duncan joins Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Geoffrey Rush, Taika Waititi and Jon Tenney. Director Martin Campbell led from the helm, based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg.

Plot Concept: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Green Lantern will fly into 3D/2D theaters June 17, 2011.

One word: Sweet.

Would have been cool if Dennis Haysbert did the voice. He did it for some of the cartoons.

Really, the only image of MCD you could get was from the scorpion king? C'mon Jarrod you could have used a green mile image or better yet a pic of him playing the Kingpin.

Anyway this is a great pick to voice Kilawog

I think Duncan is absolutely perfect casting for Kilowog!  None of the previous voices for the character really did it for me. Haysbert's voice lacked the edge that Wog needed.  He came off as dopey to me. And Madson was alright I suppose, but definitely not deep enough.

Duncan will be great I think.  I like how they are saving Kilowog, showing us very limited shots of him in the trailers.  He's going to be a fan favorite I bet...

Great choice. Amazed how late in the game they're casting this. Leads me to believe that Kilowog won't have that big a role even though he's probably the most prominent GL besides Hal and Sinestro.

On a side note, latino review has a reliable source with some interesting rumor bits about Superman. It appears that we may be in for an entire origin film  with Faora and not Ursa as one of the villains. It all sounds pretty good to me just thinking about some of the fighting Snyder can incorporate with Faora

Hey Wise, I dont think it takes that long to do voice recording.  Besides, like Geoffrey Rush, they probably cast him earlier but just released it to the press

SWEET!!The only choice for the role.

skitzoid77 4/14/2011 10:20:46 AM

his voice is very deep and commanding when he needs it to be, very excellent for kilowog

krathwardroid 4/14/2011 11:44:56 AM

A perfect fit for Duncan.
