By: Chris Wyatt
Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2002

Classic SF author and musician Lloyd Biggle, Jr. unfortunately lost his dual battle with cancer and leukemia last week. Biggle, who served in the armed forced during World War II, was know for integrating social and ecological concerns into roaring space operas beginning with his first novel THE ANGRY ESPERS in 1961. Other notable works by Biggle include THE WORLD MENDERS and THE STILL SMALL VOICE OF TRUMPETS. His short story "Monument" earned him a Hugo nomination in 1961.

Biggle is survived by his wife, one daughter and one son. His fans will miss him sorely.
