Clive Barker Hangs LA Art Exhibit
By: Sue SchneiderDate: Tuesday, October 01, 2002
On Saturday September 21, the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood opened an art exhibition of paintings from Clive (HELLRAISER) Barker's new book ABARAT. The novel is the first installment of a series of four young adult fantasy/adventure books and is already in its third printing. The exhibit is running through the end of the month. At the opening Barker signed books for fans.
ABARAT focuses on a girl named Candy Quakenbush who lives in the most boring town in the world: Chickentown, U.S.A. Candy's search to find what the future may hold for her leads her to the magical world of the Abarat, a vast archipelago where every island represents a different hour of the day. The art exhibit featured some of the paintings that are included in the book.
Barker has written 18 books, including his first children's book THE THIEF OF ALWAYS. ABARAT ($24.95) is published by Joanna Cotler Books, an imprint of HarperCollins.
