It's been a long famine for horror fans wanting to see Clive Barker's horror muscles stretched in a cinematic form.
Thankfully, this fall his producing and story talents will grace SAINT SINNER on the SciFi Channel, and thankfully he's sat down with our own Anthony C. Ferrante to talk about the project in the July issue of CINESCAPE magazine.
The tale, billed by Barker himself as an "erotic tale of suspense and horror," is unlike what viewers of the channel have seen before according to its creator.
"It's the kind of thing you haven't seen the Sci Fi Channel do before," Barker told us. "I hope TV is the place I can go in the future for these smaller movies... For a $3.9 million budget, something like this isn't going to get released theatrically. TV and DVD are the perfect place for these movies. It's basically about a priest named Brother Tomas, in 1815, who moves through time to capture two demon women who he has unwittingly released from a depository in his monastery. When these women arrive in contemporary America, they commence to create sexual and horrific havoc, most of which Patrick is responsible for. He has also sinned by letting these women out, and he is in pursuit of them in present-day Seattle. They also get pregnant. It's messy and a lot of fun."
The mess is courtesy creature creator Patrick Tatopoulos (INDEPENDENCE DAY, GODZILLA) who designed some of goulish aspects of the production, and one in the spirit of lower budget horror films which thrived in the 1980s.
