And yet, after three seasons, Bauer has lived to die another day and this January, that day begins at 6:00am.
"We're really starting afresh," says executive producer Howard Gordon, who reveals the new season takes place 18 months after last year's events. Bauer is now wearing a suit and working behind the desk for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. when an ill-planned trip to Los Angeles triggers another daylong ordeal.
