The
official STAR WARS website has finally decided to acknowledge what online fans have known about for a while: the identity of a new
EPISODE III villain named General Grievous. The military leader of Count Dooku's Separtist forces, Grievous is a fearsome, half-alien, half-cyborg opponent that will see major combat during the first act of
EPISODE III, including a lightsaber fight with one of the trilogy's principal characters. Producer Rick McCallum calls Grievous "a master strategist and the greatest hand-to-hand Jedi killer the galaxy has ever known."
Viewers of the new
CLONE WARS micro-series will be the first people to be shown the might of Grievous' battle skills. The character will make its first appearance in Chapter 20 of
CLONE WARS, scheduled for broadcast on April 8. The website describes the
CLONE WARS finale as involving a group of Jedi Knights being picked off one-by-one by a "indestructible new enemy." Sounds like Grievous!
The final ten new episodes of
CLONE WARS begins on Friday, March 26. Each episode will be available from the official
STAR WARS website's Hyperspace content section, available to subscribers. As a bonus to Hyperspace members, viewers will also be able to download and watch each
CLONE WARS episode with an optional commentary track by series creator Gennedy Tartakovsky.
