Clone Wars Season 5 Trailer

Maul and Mandalorians

The big question we were all left pondering after Star Wars: The Clone Wars did the impossible and resurrected Darth Maul: What’s next?

Well, fans this weekend at Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando were treated to at least part of the answer in an epic new trailer for season 5 that shows what happens when Maul and his Mandalorian allies are unleashed on that Galaxy Far, Far Away.

“I’d say these are the most thought-provoking episodes we’ve done, for sure,” supervising director Dave Filoni says of the new season, set to debut on Cartoon Network on Saturday Sept. 29 in its new 9:30 a.m. timeslot. “Is there a benefit of having seen the previous four seasons? Yes. Season 5, more than any other we’ve produced, is geared to the loyal viewer.”

EW has the exclusive online debut of the three-and-a-half minute trailer, and it’s a cosmic corker featuring not just Maul, his brother Savage Opress, and director Jon Favreau’s Mandalorian Death Watch leader Pre Vizsla, but Asajj Ventress, Mark II tech, and a lightsaber-wielding Darth Sidious.

Check out the trailer here!

My usual disclaimer:  Star wars are prequels are all crap.

Can't wait for new season also.  I don't need to watch trailer to know I am watching.  But I wonder how long they are going to beat this dead horse storyline and maybe focus on newer storylines with Luke maybe?  The need to end the series and work on that.  They had a great run with what they had but it's time to move on.  5 seasons is enough.  More than enough.

That looked outstanding. I want to watch the entire season right now.

I have to admit that when this first debuted, I thought it would be a lot of little one-shot stories connected together like the other Clone Wars cartoon series.

As they progressed, the writing and character personalities started to gel a bit more.

Then they started into the deeper storylines, and this show has gotten absolutely amazing!
It really has surpassed my expectations and I can't wait to see how they wrap all this up!

I was worried when they brought back Maul that it would end up "gimmicky", but they seem to have brought him back with purpose.
And I love that we get to see Sidiuos in action again!

Of course, we all know that at some point Ahsoka and Rex have to go away.
Whether they "leave" or are killed remains to be seen.
But I do like how they have handled the other deaths in the series (esp. Even Piel )

I don't get it with this show is this set in a outside universe or something? i can't get into it since its not canon.

I have a good feeling about ths!

Actually Mythos it is canon.

It is set between Episode 2 and 3, and details the events of the Clone Wars themselves.
They are showing that alot actually happened in the few years between the movie timelines.
It shows Anakin's growth and some of the things he is experiencing, it also shows the dynamic between Anakin and Obi-Wan and what it was that made them so close.

The problem stems from the fact that the first 3 seasons were not necessarily in chronological order.
Some of the episodes actually take place during or after the ones being done now.
But from season 4 on, they have pretty much been set in a linear fashion time-wise.

I'm with you there Chervil, and it is a bit of a pain to get the early seasons chronolgical sequence sorted to view it correctly. I've seen several suggested variations on how it should run. I haven't noticed an official one (not really looked in a while tbh) yet.
