Clooney Also Out of WHITE JAZZ

Another production snafu has happened for director Joe Carnahan, the man set to bring the James Ellroy crime novel to the big screen. Last week, Chris Pine dropped out of WHITE JAZZ because production would begin at the same time as JJ Abrams' STAR TREK in November. The actor chose the Kirk role instead so that left Carnahan down one actor. This week, George Clooney has also left the project due to unlucky timing. The director doesn't seem fazed by it considering what he wrote in his blog..

Rough weekend. I had a bad feeling after they pushed 'Leatherheads' to April because of the extensive post on that film that something was going to have to give. Also, George is neck deep in the Coen bros. film at the moment and trying to do 'Michael Clayton' press which will likely carry over into Awards season...SO...they wanted to see about pushing White Jazz back, which I really don't want to do. I've been waiting awhile to make this one and I wasn't content to sit on my hands.

Right now, (actually it began on friday) we're in the process of trying to plug a guy into this movie that, if it works, would be pretty f*cking amazing. No, INCREDIBLY f*cking amazing, so we'll see what happens.

No tears kids. This is the business. It happens all the time and you've got to have the balls and the ability to push past in spite of these setbacks.

Plot Concept: Centers on a dirty LAPD vice squad lieutenant whose mastery at skirting the rules gets tested when he's set up by his crooked bosses to be the fall guy for a murder.

Narc and Smokin' Aces were great movies. Can't wait to see what comes next. It would have been interesting to see what he would have done with MI:3. JJ Abhrams did a great job, but you always gotta wonder: what if the other guy did it?

They should wrap this movie up so he can start work on the Killing Pablo project. That's the one I'm really interested in.

Clooney pulling out is prorably a good sign. Everything this guy touches seems to flop, even if it's well critiqued. With the exception of the Ocean films, but then again they probably succeeded in spite of him not because of him.

Clooney doesn't have a great commercial track record, but a lot of that is due to the fact that he picks movies that don't really have mass appeal. That said, he's made some absolutely GREAT movies over his career, and he's one of the few actors I will see star in a movie if he's in it, if only because of his track record of making very good films. In the end, I'd pick a good movie over a financially successful one any day.

I say the actor replacing Clooney is Harrison Ford. Just a gut feeling.

GOOD NIGHT and GOOD LUCK, Syrianna and Solaris were all successful. Nothing he makes flops. Just because a film does not take in a large amount of money does not make it a flop. What is a flop is when a movie makes money opening day and then 10 years later you realize how much money was paid for films like the SPIDERPIG trilogy and what shit they really are.

Hey Sony,
Keep trying. I agree with you on things from time to time,(Solaris kicks ass) but no matter how hard you try you're not gonna be able to single handedly bring down Spiderman, or Pig, I mean Transformers.
Sorry dude. A lot of people like them. some don't. But no one is gonna look back on Spiderman (especially 1&2) and see them as garbage.
Keep trying though, good luck

Actually many have said how TRANSVESTITES AND THE SPIDERPIG series are crap, so gauleyboy 420 keep getting high on your drugs and watch cartoons.

sonymansucksit, you're stoopid.
Sometimes I agree with you, but you must be on crack or something. Because "so many" people have told YOU how much they hated Transformers that it continues to break records. Even today it's still breaking records for DVD sales. So yeah everyone in PIGMANSWALLOWS world hates TF. But in the REAL world most people LOVE it and Spiderman. Don't believe me?, well when you go to best buy this weekend to pick up your copy of Transformers, and spiderman next week notice how few of them are on the shelves. Plus you're gonna bust my balls for liking cartoons, on this site, we ALL like cartoons. In fact you love a certain cartoon so much (transformers) you're obviously gonna be f-ed up for the rest of your life because you didn't enjoy Bay's interpretation of it.
SUCK-IT

Yeah big fucking deal it made alot of money due to inflation and flooding of the market anything is going to make that large amount of money. I could care less what you or anyone else is to dumb to not spend their money on. Let it keep asking for your money, Im proud of you. But hey you are in one of the Virginia's so intelligence isnt really expected from you, a drugged up loser.
