George Clooney will produce and likely star in
SYRIANA, a thriller set in the Middle East and which follows the personal journey of a CIA agent as he experiences the effects of U.S. foreign policy upon that region of the world. The actor hopes to be filming the movie after
OCEAN'S TWELVE completes its production, which is scheduled to commence next year. Clooney's business partner, director Steven Soderbergh, will also produce
SYRIANA.
The script was written by
TRAFFIC screenwriter Stephen Gaghan and will also be directed by him. The script is based on a book by former CIA operative Robert Baer titled
SEE NO EVIL: THE TRUE STORY OF A FOOT SOLDIER IN THE CIA'S WAR ON TERRORISM.
