This looks really promising in a, "Vanille Sky" kind of way.

There are 6 seperate stories here.  The stories by themselves are intriguing. But in the book there are threads linking them all.

Some of them directly by characters like the one where Berry plays a reporter investigating some dirty nuclear plant secrets and her informant is a key player in Letters of Sedelghem. Others hint at reincarnated souls if you will.. And it shows how actions can be felt down the line in history. The ol' lady and I saw it differently so I think some folk can interpret it differently.

I think the film will take away some of the subtleties by having the actors play different roles so it  seems more obvious whenever it's supposed to be a reincarnated soul. At least that's partly my take on the book.

I won't compare it to The Fountain as some have done but it's one of those where folk will take something different from it I think.

I hope people turn out for it. All you that cry about originality, well here you go

Very pretty looking film... I'll say that much. Won't say much else till after I watch it

My most anticipated movie of the fall/winter.  The first five minute trailer that came out was stunning and I really enjoyed the book as well.

Wow, does that ever look and sound like... well frankly... a load of "arty-farty" bollocks!

hey wise was it a good book? could i have the name of it? would love to read it.

Wiseguy 9/9/2012 2:58:30 PM

Goes by the same title Mythos, Cloud Atlas. It is a good a book but one like Life of Pi that I would never read if not pushed by my ol' lady.

Keep in mind that maybe only 2 stories would classify as "genre" in the sense that is used on this site. But they're all interesting in their own also.

I hate recommending stuff like this because if you hate it after putting several hours into reading it then I feel guilty. I'll just say that I was pleasantly surprised and this along with Life of Pi are probably my top 2 films I'm looking forward to

Btw not that it means anything but it got a lengthy standing ovation at the TIFF.
