Tron Sequel Back on the Grid

The Tron Legacy sequel is back on over at Disney. The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive story:
“The sequel to the 2010 reboot Tron: Legacy — called Tron 3 in some quarters — is moving a step forward with Disney in negotiations to hire Jesse Wigutow to pen the latest draft of the script”. - The Hollywood Reporter, read the full story here
The plot at this juncture is under wraps. Joseph Kosinski (Tron Legacy) is attached to direct the sequel. Thought the first film had a luke warm box office, it still made $400 million world wide.

So Maniacs, are you ready to get back on the Grid?

In a word, Yup.

fuck yes i know i am. will it pick up how it ended? now that they can cross over from the grid to the real world this is going to be interesting, i can see some of the grid tech. spreading like a virus in the real world taking over in a cool high tech battle vr the real world.

Even in Tron, Jeff Bridges was still rockin' The Dude...kept waiting for him to say, "Man, that rug really tied The Grid together, man!"  I actually never saw the original, but was reasonably entertained by Legacy...I'd go see another one.

The Tron movie could be salvaged from the bad taste Tron Legacy left.  They need to go back to the 1st movie though..more Tron and less dumb-down Tron style action movie.  Perhapts in an effort to save Tron, Flynn gets him to the "old-system" and maybe the only way to "reboot" the  original "Tron" programming inside Tron fully restoring his memories would be to have him communicate to "Allen1" via one of the old I/O Towers...maybe.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 2nd movie but again just as a stand-alone Tron-Style action flick, just didn't have the same "feel" as the 1st.  The 1st one felt like it could be going on inside a computer system (hit all the right marks as far as the characters feeling like programs and terminology), Tron Legacy (AND the cartoon now) just felt like people in skin-tight neon lined swim suits.

Holding my breath for descent Tron movie, hope this one is it.

Absolutely! Legacy wasn't as good as the original, but anything with Ms. Olivia Wilde in it is OK by me just to see her!

I hope they do it more in line with the original and not rely so heavily on sets, and get back to using more CGI. TRON is definitely a film franchise that needs CGI.

Tell the truth they need to focus on games, they intro'd flying which would have been a great game to see.  Tron was about the games and they needed to expand on that, forget the take over the world crap.  I would like to see OCP 2.0 also.  They had the updated looks down for dudes and the hot chicks.  They really could have had something for this last movie, hope they learn.

Legacy wasn't great, but it was good.  Hopefully with version 3.0 they fix some of the weaknesses of Legacy and make a Tron movie that is everything that it can be.  More Olivia Wilde is good also.

Anyone watching Tron: Uprising?  Is it worth a look?

I didn't realize the sequel was off to begin with

Okay I agree with most of you, didn't love Legacy but enjoyed it enough to see a sequel. I need to make time to catch the original that for some unfathomable reason I've yet to see.

@wiseguy I didn't think it was off either but I believe they've been on the fence about weather or not to pull the trigger on a sequel.

Off topic Garrett Hedlund who played Sam Flynn is in the running to play StarLord in GOTG.
