While presenting the Sony line-up at ShoWest, Sony President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer hinted to CS' Edward Douglas that they're planning a third installment in their Men in Black franchise. While talking about District 9 as well as dropping brief information for their future sequels Spider-Man 4 and Ghostbusters 3, the executive announced that they're also planning to jump into the MIB franchise one more time.

No other information was given and no word whether Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be back to reprise their roles for this next sequel. For now, it's just in the planning stages.

The original film hit theaters July 2, 1997 with a $51.0 opening weekend. It would go on to gross $589.3 million worldwide. Their sequel, released in 2002, went on to gross $441.8 million worldwide.

When we hear more, we'll pass it along.

I loved the first 2 MIB movies and I can't wait to see a 3rd movie

I think flint covered it

the first MIB was great, the second was not

The second sucked donkey balls.  I'm with Flint.

I enjoyed both films too, but the original was the best of them. If they can come up with a really, really good story, maybe Smith's character trying to retire, I'll probably see it.

Hey, have you ever really tried donkey balls!?!  Don't knock it 'til...:)

I didn't care for either of the Men In Black films and I hope Tommy Lee Jones isn't in the 3rd.  Dude's old to be running around after aliens.  In the words of Roger Murtaugh he's "too old for that shit".

I do care for Ghostsbusters 3, I would definitely check that out especially if it does turn out to be a mixture of the old school and new school Ghostbusters.

I'm actually pretty interested on all these projects on different levels.

Agree that MIB2 wasn't that great but I'd still like a sequel. Bring in totally new agents, a good story, godd cgi and I'm there.

Allow me to whhooooOOO CARES applied only to MIB3.  As for Ghostbusters 3;  I'm interested in it simply beacuse all the principles, Reitman included, are returning.  However I have reservations because I'm hearing this going to be a "passing the torch" type movie where we meet new Ghostbusters who will most likely be Jack Black, Seth Rogan, Jason Segal(spelling?) insert other Apatow cronie here_______, to replace the old Ghostbusters.  If that is the case then I would rather they didn't do this.  Just my opinion.

Can that other guy be Paul Rudd? Cause that would be sweet.  I would take out Black & Rogen and put in Mos Def and James Franco.

I love the MiB movies. I hope there is a third one, and that this time, J and K go into space.
