Columbus Short has told MTV that he had to turn down the Green Lantern role, something which WB and Miller reportedly offered him for the JLA production. The 25-year old actor who starred in Save The Last Dance 2 & Stomp the Yard turned down the role because it was "too much popcorn for his taste"...

"'Justice League' is going to be dope, it's going to be huge," grinned the fast-rising star, before dropping a second bomb: "But it's not the movie for me."

That's right - Columbus Short has not only been considered for "Justice League", but has already turned the filmmakers (including director George Miller) down cold. In joining the ranks of Biel and who knows how many others, Short said that he ultimately decided the script was too much popcorn for his taste.

What does "too much Popcorn" mean? AND this JLA movie is dead if these second stringers are turning it down. It's looking like a direct to DVD release to me.
Lost Boys 2 is starting to look good next to this crapfest.

Frankly,

I think he's too Short for the role.

*snicker*

So I guess Colombus thinks he's the next Denzel?

And I too want to know what he means by that?

But he isn't obligated to take it. Just sounds a bit arrogant for someone who's biggest movie to date is Stomp the Yard.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw it, Tbones.

Honestly, I don't believe he was offered the role no matter what he's saying to the news outlets.

At the very least, though...Warner Bros has to see that this whole affair is turning into a big joke.

Last year..two years ago...A possible Justice League film was so anticipated by so many fans. Now? It's negative reaction...after negative reaction....after negative reaction. It's turning into a joke.

cool. GL don't dance anyway. He'd be lucky to get the roll. I'm in the industry and I've never heard of him. And Stomp the Yard is not "popcorn"?...please.

This guy as GL? Who's next Jaleel "Urkle" White?

I've said it over and over again; This movie is gonna be a BIG FAT TURD!!!

This pretty much confirms everyone's suspicions that they're aiming for a young cast instead of the way the League is depicted in comics. This is bad news for the hardcore fan. But I'm starting to believe that with an action packed movie if the story is decent we'll forgive the casting. Especially when he says that it's too much popcorn, it sounds like at least it's going to be fun. I guess that I'm starting to accept what they're doing and staring to look forward to this. Maybe I'll bitch a little less.

No, the cast is essential. I DON'T want another "fun" movie with no story, bad acting and no redeeming quality other than some pretty eye candy for special effects. We've gotten several years of that crap from Marvel, and with Batman Begins and V for Vendetta, I was really hoping that DC understood that. Somebody needs to hand these people a portfolio of Alex Ross' art so they know what the hell the Justice League is supposed to look like.

This guy was supposed to be John Stewart?!?! AND he turned it down?!?!?! Stinkfest.

Amen scytheofluna! Please get people behind this some of Ross' work to check out. Although at this point maybe just giving them ANY comic book would help.
