Here's a film project that shows some heat ever few years before disappearing back into the fiery depths of development hell: the 'Ripley's Believe it or Not!' biopic.
Today's Variety indicates that Chris Columbus is in negotiations with with Paramount to direct the movie, based on the life of famed cartoonist Robert Ripley.
Jim Carrey has long been attached to the project and is still set to star as the newspaper man turned world-explorer who launched a massive franchise based on his popular newspaper comic strip.
The movie was previously set to film last year with Tim Burton running the show from locations in China. Now Columbus has a new take on the material which both the studio and the star like. Of course, this means a new screenplay. The studio is waiting for Columbus' deal to close before hiring a new writer.
