The IRON MAN exhibit has come and gone at this year's Comic Con and it's time to look upon some highlights even if we don't get to see the "early" footage in visual form just yet. Here's some highlights...
Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios), Avi Arad (executive producer), Jon Favreau (director), Terrance Howard (Rhodes), Robert Downey Jr (Stark/Iron Man) and Gwyneth Paltrow(Pepper/Tony's aid) were in attendance. Bridges was not there.
It was pointed out that Howard really pushed for his part as Rhodes before Favreau was even involved with the film.
Most of the special FX involved in Iron Man is practical, not CGI. They are using Industrial Light & Magic for the CGI that they need.
Director Favreau praised Nolan for his BATMAN BEGINS in paving the way for director and comic movies in terms of great casting ensembles.
Stan Lee does have a cameo in IRON MAN.
In the Q&A session, someone asked Kevin Feige if there was still an AVENGERS movie planned and the response was : "That's the plan."
The footage shown showcased Robert Downey Jr in his Tony Stark business suit being questioned by a Vanity Fair reporter about his company. He retorted a snappy joke back as is the usual "Tony Stark" fashion. It also showed him in both his gray and red "Iron Man" looks. During a fight sequence, someone fires something which looks like a rocket at him and we see both Rhodes (as Tony's bodyguard) and Jeff Bridges as his character Stone.
Big thanks to Daforce for passing notes along.
