Comic flix top Visual Effects Oscar list

Variety reports that competition is fierce for the visual effects Oscar this year. With so many worth films, the Academy's visual effects branch is taking a two tiered approach to the awards, naming 15 contenders in December and narrowing the list to seven in January. It's no surprise that comic-based films dominate the field of hopefuls.

Variety provides a list of 15 films although it's not clear if this is the Academy's December list. Among them:
